Thingyan & Songkran

In 2019, I joined the Thingyan festival in Myanmar with my friends, but it was my least enjoyable water festival experience. Fortunately, while working at Ooredoo Myanmar, I had the opportunity to attend the company's party. We sang Thingyan songs and played with water, but I didn’t fully experience the vibrant atmosphere of the festival; I only got a taste of it.  This year, I celebrated the water festival known as Songkran in Thailand with my wonderful brother, Htet Kyaw Aung. We spent all the days of Songkran in crowded areas like Silom, Central World, and Khao San Road. The experience was quite different from what I was accustomed to in Myanmar. Most of the parties in Myanmar are completely free, and they use a large amount of water at each stage. We can often find free traditional snacks along the streets. Unfortunately, in Thailand, I had to pay 10 Baht to refill water; my toy water gun's container holds less than a liter. Despite the similarities between the two festival...

First birthday alone

 It's my first birthday alone. Every other year, I celebrated with my family, and they cooked a Chinese noodle for me on this day, named jītāngmiàn. This birthday, though, is far from joyful. I'm struggling with so many challenges and trying to make decisions about my future, not knowing where end up. can't go back to my country, not with the civil war. My only hope is for peace, a life free from fear, and that my family will be whole again when this is all over.
